Goldfinger, 1964

This is a very scarce US Subway poster advertising the immediate post-premiere release of Goldfinger in two new York Cinemas, the DeMille and Coronet Theatres on Dec. 22nd 1964 (the film premiered at the DeMille the day before on the 21st). Very large, measuring 44" x 59". The print run for such a large poster for just two cinemas would have been very small, making this piece extremely rare. One of just a handful known to exist. It is the only one we have ever seen! An extremely popular and very rare horizontal format American movie poster. Subway sheets are printed on a thicker paper than one-sheets. Most contain the same artwork as the advance materials, and are almost always issued as "advances." They are most often found in subway displays. These posters can be either rolled or folded. Some collectors like the subway sheet because there are fewer of them released. They are somewhat large and cumbersome, but because they are printed on a thick paper, they are more durable. Still used today. Highly desired due to its horizontal format and extreme scarcity.
