From one of the final steps in the poster production process comes this incredible printer's proof, a layered composite overlay for what is quite possibly the most famous poster from The Empire Strikes Back. Undoubtedly, this unique item would be an absolute gem of an acquisition for any die-hard collector of sci-fi's greatest space saga. Composed of four clear polyester sheets printed in the separate colors of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, this proof allowed printers to check the image's trapping, layout, and text, ensuring there were no breaks in the color. When properly aligned, the overlay displays the iconic Gone with the Wind style poster design by artist Roger Kastel, with colors perfectly accurate to the final production poster. This piece boasts incredible history. It was originally owned by 20th Century Fox publicity agent Daniel Saez, who marketed such top-tier titles as Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The proof is stunning on display and remains in great condition overall, showing only very minor storage and handling wear. As is standard for the proofing process, the clear layers are attached to a white sheet of paper stock by strips of tape at the top edge. Additional minor wear includes slight handling creases, light surface scuffs, and unobtrusive smudges.
